“Soul Surfer” Bethany Hamilton chews up Jaws!
December 2009, the first big swells to hit the famous break of Jaws on Maui in five years offered several massive days suitable for tow-in surfing. Bethany was on the scene and was thrilled for the opportunity. Her wave was nominated for the Girls Best Performance in the 2010 Billabong XXL Global Big Wave Awards! After watching Bethany Hamilton at Peahi, also known as “Jaws”, the famous big-wave surf spot on Maui, we were inspired to create our new “Jaws” Bone Pendant necklace.
Imagine taking a pounding 3 X overhead 15 ft wave with one arm. It was amazing to watch and without a doubt remarkable. She was astounding and this young woman is fast becoming the most extraordinary woman surfer in history. Inspirational doesn’t even begin to describe Bethany Hamilton. Her story is one of survival, determination and heart.
